Westbrook Märzenbier is in fact a Märzen/Oktoberfest style beer, it comes in at 6% ABV.
This pours with a nice caramel amber color, big fluffy off white head that does fade considerably before too long. I’m getting some toasted and buttered bread, slight nuttiness, and a little sweet caramel on the nose. Soft and slightly creamy in the mouth-feel, and the taste is spot on for the style. Much like the aroma the taste is bready with a strong sweet punch of caramel. A mild bite of hops mixes with a touch of nuttiness that finishes out the taste.
This will never be one of the Westbrook beers that the beer nerds are going to freak out about getting a bottle of. It IS a solid seasonal offering that you should seek out if you enjoy a good Märzen.
