Coronado Stupid Stout
Coronado Stupid Stout is an American Double/Imperial Stout, 9% ABV. This review is for the 2015 vintage, sent to us to review. This is a seasonal release in Coronado’s Crown Series which is limited to 22oz bottles and draft.
This pours just as you would expect it to, black with a good creamy tan head. The aroma is decadent and complex; a great combination of dark fruits, roasted marshmallows, mild smoked malt and some chocolate. There is a definite s’mores like thing going on on the nose. Slick and smooth on the feel with an above average thickness. The taste brings a lot of the same notes as the aroma, but it really doesn’t taste like a s’mores in the way it “kind of” smells like one. Chocolate and mild roast, some dark cherries and licorice, strong alcohol heat and taste going on here. Mild bit of hops add a smidgen of balance on the finish.
Excellent seasonal stout, I can find no reason whatsoever to not be on the lookout for this one. I don’t have a lot of history with them, but this is easily the best Coronado beers I can remember tasting.
