Dogfish Head 75 Minute
Dogfish Head 75 Minute American IPA. 7.5% ABV. This review if for the 2015 version, bottled on 10/7/15, opened on 11/22/15. From the DFH website: Blend two Dogfish Head favorites, add maple syrup and carbonate the mixture naturally. What do you get? 75 Minute IPA. I’m pretty sure just over a month is the freshest I’ve ever had this.
An absolutely beautiful looking beer. It pours with a lovely deep gold with some orange highlights. The maple syrup comes out strong in the aroma along with some mild tropical fruit notes. The hops in this beer are earthy and plentiful yet never too intense, they never become overbearing. I am rather enjoying a little orange and lemon zip from the hops as well. I feel like the addition of maple syrup brings out a nice sweetness in the malts. You would expect a blend of 60 and 90 Minute to taste like an IPA smack dab in-between 60 and 90, but I find that 75 Minute stands on its own and is rather unique.
This is only my second or third time having this, and I think I actually prefer it to the others. I would love to see this in year round six packs as opposed to the occasional 750 ml bottles. Ah… a beer nerd can dream?
