Blue Point Jingle Mingle
Blue Point Jingle Mingle is a Russian Imperial Stout, 11.4% ABV. The stout is fermented with sour cherries and aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels for one year. This was sent to review, according to the information card that came with the beer this is a brewery only release.
The beer pours with a black color, hints of light showing through the edges, and a tan head that fades exceptionally fast and leaves no lacing. Strong bourbon and chocolate malt on the nose, a hint of cherry tartness. The taste is a touch thin overall, both in flavor and feel. I’m getting the bourbon and roasted malts, a bit of generic sourness on the end, but it all comes together in a bit of an astringent way. The mouth-feel is far too thin for the style. It is making me drink this massive 11.4% stout way faster than I intend to.
Not the best barrel aged stout I’ve had, but not the worst either. I will have no problem finishing my half of the bomber.
