Clown Shoes Aurora Orangealis
Clown Shoes Aurora Orangealis is an American IPA, 7% ABV. It wasn’t long ago that that Clown Shoes had an ugly legal battle with their then Georgia distributor, Quality. This IPA is a celebration of the their ultimate victory in the peach state. In case you were curious, that is the short story of how a brewery located in Ipswich, MA brewed a beer distributed exclusively in Georgia.
This is a really pretty beer with a deep caramel color that has fantastic orange highlights, the head is outstanding and remains a constant. I’m smelling a lot of citrus on the nose, orange and tangerine sweetness with a hint of caramel and an almost sweet tea like thing going on. This IPA has a pretty solid taste profile as well. A bit of sweet caramel malt rushes to the forefront before a slow building hop bitterness. The hop flavor is somewhat herbal with a faint mint mixing with a little grapefruit rind.
Very enjoyable overall, certainly worth picking up if you are in Georgia and probably worth a trade if you’re a Clown Shoes completist.
