Funky Buddha Nib Smuggler
Funky Buddha Nib Smuggler is an American Porter, 6.3% ABV. The label proclaims this to be a Porter with cocoa with cacao nibs and vanilla beans added. Big thanks to Raymond for the bottle!
This beer pours an exceptionally dark brown color, it really looked straight black in the poor light of my living room. Straight up chocolate on the nose. I can’t say that I’m smelling any roast or hops, or any other beer like aroma for that matter. So the chocolate is certainly evident, if not dominate, in the taste. Unlike the aroma the palate is offered a bit more complexity. Notes of coffee, vanilla, and bitter hops are evident on the finish and aftertaste. There is a strong cola (almost Dr. Pepper) like thing going on in the middle of the taste as well.
Sweet and chocolaty, and fairly well balanced in the taste. Can’t complain too much about that!
