Swamp Head Morning Glow
Swamp Head Morning Glow is an American Blonde Ale infused with Madagascar vanilla beans and roasted blonde coffee, 5.3% ABV. This beer was bottled on 11/20/15, and opened on 2/10/16. I picked this up at the end of the year in Florida and it took me a bit too long to get around to trying it. Not the kind of beer you generally want to sit on for almost three months.
This pours with a typical Blonde Ale light yellow color, the head was pleasant to start but faded very quickly. The vanilla is coming out in the aroma along with a bit of mild sweet grain, but not much more than that. I’m going to get this out of the way; I’m not getting any distinct coffee anywhere… neither taste, nor aroma. With the few months of age I did expect the coffee to fade a bit, but not entirely! What is left is kind of odd… but really enjoyable. This Blonde is drinking like a Vanilla Sour! Sweet vanilla mixes with a mild tartness and an earthy finish. (That has to be from the coffee, right?) Not overly complex, but what Blonde Ale is?
This beer certainly is different, which is probably why it ended up in my shopping cart to being with.
