Caldera Brewing Hoportunity Knocks
Caldera Brewing Hoportunity Knocks is an American IPA, 6.8% ABV, best by date 05/30/15, opened on 04/20/16.
This IPA pours with a deep copper red color with an active two finger head. The aroma is quite malt forward, not sure if that is due to the recipe or the fact that this is about a month away from it’s best by date. Big caramel malt in the taste with hop notes of pine and grapefruit rind. The bitterness is really mild for an IPA, just the slightest tingle and a bit of dryness in the aftertaste. I am a fan of the mouth-feel though; it is really full… almost what I’d call creamy, which makes the beer go down super easy.
Between the big malt content, muted hop flavor, and lack of bitterness this is drinking more like a moderately hoppy Amber Ale than an IPA to me.
