Natty Greene’s Southern Dry-Hopped Pale Ale
Natty Greene’s Southern Dry-Hopped Pale Ale is a showcase of Cascade hops, 5.2% ABV. This bottle has no date that I can find.
This beer has a rich golden color with both orange and yellow highlights. It seems that Natty Greene’s might be the kings of head retention, I have had a couple of their bottled beers and both heads have been outstanding and never ending! I am sadly not getting much on the aroma at all. It does mildly smell like a “pale ale”, but there is nothing to make this stand out in any way. The flavor is truly a showcase of Cascade as they proclaim. It carries the tell tale flavors of the hop with some strong grapefruit and pine. The malt base is really perfectly balanced with a hint of sweet caramel and a good dose of cracker. A solid bitterness for a Pale Ale, but it clearly comes up short of IPA territory.
I am actually really into this beer, it is a solid Pale Ale. It’s not overly complex, but I felt it has a near perfect combo of malt sweetness, and hop flavor and bitterness.
