Off Color Brewing Le Woof
Off Color Brewing Le Woof is a Bière de Garde, 7.8% ABV, no bottle date.
This beer pours with a deep golden color with some rich orange highlights, an active fluffy white head sits on top. On the nose is a good bit of malt sweetness, along with some fruity yeast esters, notes of pear and melon. Even with some sweetness on the aroma, the flavor of this is surprisingly sweet upfront. I’m getting both fruity and malty sweetness with some ripe cantaloupe and sweet caramel sticking out. The yeast really shines and takes over after that with some solid “Belgian-esque” character. It is adding a bit of dry earthiness as well as a touch of mild tartness. The feel is bright and bubbly, no lack of carbonation here.
I had a small taste of this previously and thought it was just OK, but spending a little quality time with Le Woof has given me the opportunity to really get into what it has to offer. (You really need more than a few ounces to experience all there is to a beer!) Tasty one here, I would happily drink this again.
