Ponysaurus Bière De Garde Ale
Ponysaurus Bière De Garde Ale has a lot of clever of words on this can of beer, but somehow those words do not include a canning date or ABV.
This pours with the most pathetic head I have seen on a beer in quite a long time. There was a fraction of an inch of foam on this beer before it disappeared immediately to absolutely nothing. The beer itself is a pleasant medium caramel color that gets a tad cloudier on the secondary pour from the 16oz. can. The aroma is big with rich caramel malt and a touch of honey, a considerably improvement after that lackluster pour. The taste brings in some wonderful grainy malt that isn’t too sweet or cloying, spot on for the style. A solid bit of tartness follows that with a touch of green apple flavor, the slightest hint of hop bitterness is a perfect compliment to the sweet malt base. I expected as much from the head on the pour, but it needs to be noted that this beer is severely under-carbonated. Although this Bière De Garde tastes really good in general, the flat mouth-feel is a sincere drawback.
A true mixed bag here, but overall… I’d say give this a try if you see it.
