Allagash / Deschutes Pettygrove’s Chance
Pettygrove’s Chance is an American Pale Ale brewed by Allagash and Deschutes, 7.6% ABV. The bottle describes this as a Sparkling Pale Ale fermented with a Saison yeast. This effort was the Savor 2016 collaboration beer, big thanks Kevin for sharing this after bringing it back from Service Brewing’s first invite to this amazing beer/food festival.
The beer pours with a cloudy orange/gold color, and a nice white head on a beer shared between 5 people. Fantastic aroma on this beer with notes of sweet sugar, bright citrus, bubble gum and a mild but evident amount of yeast. The taste compliments the nose with a fairly light fruity taste of oranges/tangerines, dry yeast, and a floral hop finish. A great extra to this delicious beer is the light and creamy mouth-feel. Since this was finished with champagne yeast and bottle conditioned I was expecting something really bright and bubbly, but it really works as it is!
Given the two breweries involved I’m not going to say I’m surprised at how good this beer was, but I was a bit surprised by just how good this beer was.
