Funky Buddha Hop Stimulator
Funky Buddha Hop Stimulator is an American Double/Imperial IPA, 9.5% ABV, bottled on 04/07/16, opened on 07/03/16.
The beer pours with a chill hazed golden orange color, with a nice head that hangs around with a nice ring and slim layer. I’m getting some rich sweet malt and citrus hops that are highlighted with a little bit of pine and pineapple in the aroma. The malt on the taste is bready but not too dry with a little bit of caramel sweetness. The pineapple is more upfront on the taste buds, with a nice helping of citrus, mango and some pine as well. The bitterness is just about where I like it on a DIPA, moderate but not absent. A little bit chewy in the mouth-feel, but that really isn’t too surprising considering the ABV and presumed hefty malt bill.
A definite step up from their other year round beers as far as I’m concerned. Even at almost three months since bottling, this is an excellent Double IPA.
