Lagunitas New Dogtown Pale Ale
Lagunitas New Dogtown Pale Ale is an American Pale Ale, 6.2% ABV, no bottle date. It had been ages since I’ve had one of these, so I thought it would be fun to pick up and revisit.
The beer pours with moderately cloudy golden color that has a big fluffy off white head. Sweet and malty on the nose, bready with some notes of orange citrus. This is a crisp and bitter Pale Ale with a huge helping of grapefruit hops dominating from start to finish. A good bit of sweet malt tries it’s best to balance, but it is hop forward and bitter beer overall. (A true shock coming from Lagunitas, right?) This is one of those Pale Ale’s that kind of falls into the Mini-IPA category.
Although I don’t grab for the Pale Ales much these days, I have to say this is just about as good as I remember from when I did.
