Stone Enjoy After 07.04.16 Brett IPA
Stone Enjoy After 07.04.16 Brett IPA is an American IPA, bottle conditioned with Brettanomyces, 7% ABV. This is the 4th Edition of this beer, best after 7/4/16, opened on 7/25/16.
The most gentle of pours creates a huge white head, it looks like the Brett has been doing its job. The color of the beer is a slightly hazy light gold color some wonderful lemon yellow highlights. Rather typical Saison funk and fruit on the nose, a bit peppery, some citrus and melon with maybe a touch of mango. I’m getting exceptionally strong Brett character in the taste, dry and earthy with a strong barnyard flavor on the finish. A good bit of sweet tropical fruit and dry cracker malt character comes in after the Brett shock wears off. The hops are still evident in the sense of bitterness, not getting much in the way of distinct flavor.
This was an enjoyable beer, glad I aged one as instructed, but I can’t see investing a lot of time in aging this beer when there are so many great funky Saisons out there to drink year round.
