Three Floyds Yum Yum
Three Floyds Yum Yum is referred to as an American Session Ale on the bottle with no ABV listed. Bottled on 08/04/16, opened on 09/20/16. Thanks to Lee for the gift!
A nearly perfectly clear light gold color on the pour. This also has an impressive white head that settles with a thick and dense layer. The beer has a nice hop forward aroma, it is pleasantly fruity with a underlying layer of pine. As is always the case with this kind of Session Pale Ale/IPA there isn’t much malt backbone to speak of, some relatively dry cracker malt is doing it’s job. I will say that the malt profile is a touch sweeter than most other low ABV session beers I’ve tried. It makes me think there is a bigger malt bill, and probably a bit bigger ABV to go with it. (A quick check of the FFF website confirms, this is apparently 5.5% ABV. A touch high for a session ale.) The hops bring some nice tropical fruit, pine, a pinch of tea, and a little grapefruit.
Yum Yum ain’t a bad name for this one, this is a mighty tasty brew that goes down real easy.
