Oskar Blues Passion Fruit Pinner Throwback IPA
Oskar Blues Passion Fruit Pinner Throwback IPA comes in at 4.9% ABV, canned on 08.11.16, opened on 10/13/16. This appears to be Pinner brewed with passion fruit and blood orange puree.
A pretty much perfectly clear gold and yellow color with a big white head that settles after a minute or two to a nice ring in the glass. Not much different than regular Pinner on the nose for me. Some notes of pine, a mild touch of the onion like hop aroma, and some generic tropical fruit notes. The malt has a dry cracker taste, with some tart fruit coming on strong in the middle of the taste. The hops deliver some well balanced pine and a little orange flavor as well. Solid bitterness for a Session IPA that is mixing with a nice bit of carbonation tingle on the finish.
Already being a fan of Pinner, I thought this “fruited” version was a bit unnecessary, but I have to say I am rather enjoying the added fruity tartness in Passion Fruit Pinner!
