The Bruery Share This: Coffee
The Bruery Share This: Coffee is an American Double/Imperial Stout, 11.9%. The series puts the focus not only on sharing a beer with a friend, but also sharing with some good causes; from The Bruery website: Each release in this series will spotlight unique ingredients and an important cause. Share This: Coffee is an imperial stout with freshly-roasted coffee sourced by Mostra Coffee from the Philippines. For each bottle we produce, Free Wheelchair Mission receives one dollar, in turn, helping friends in the Philippines become mobile for the first time.
The beer pours with your typical dark color and fluffy tan head, perfect for the style. I’m getting lots of coffee on the nose upfront, some notes of caramel, nuts, roasted malt and mild fruitiness in the aroma as well. On the sweeter side to start the taste with some chocolate and sweet cream. A mild amount of roasted malt then follows the sweetness. The coffee comes in on the second half of the taste on into the finish. The finish provides a little balance with a little bit of hope bite, and some licorice and booziness appear as the beer warms.
This is drinking amazing right now, but there are a few sharper edges to the beer. I feel like this could age pretty well if you are willing to risk loosing some coffee flavor.
