Burnt Hickory Wrong ’em Boyo
Burnt Hickory Wrong ’em Boyo is an American Double/Imperial IPA, 8% ABV, no bottle date. I remember having an earlier version of this that I believe was Cannon Dragger with coffee added, seems they added a little to this over time! From the label: Banana Foster Coffee IPA (Pale Stout).
The color of the beer is a cloudy red/brown/orange combo with a thin tan head. The first thing the aroma reveals is a good bit of banana, brown sugar, and a little caramel malt. Not getting any coffee on the nose but it doesn’t need it; I do love the sweet banana aroma. Fruity and sweet with a good bit of caramel malt starts taste. The banana is there, but it doesn’t come through like it does in the aroma. Green and bitter hops suddenly take over in the middle of the taste and then mixes with some acidic and flavorful coffee on the finish. The taste is definitely odd, but ultimately enjoyable.
The Bananas Foster is more in the aroma than it is in the taste. Never had anything quite like this one before.
