Prairie Artisan Ales Prairie & Friends (TRVE Edition)
Prairie Artisan Ales Prairie & Friends is a Flanders Red Ale, 6.66% ABV. This collaboration with TRVE seems to be a mash up between a Flanders Red and a Belgian-style Saison that they are calling a Sour Red Farmhouse Ale.
This beer pours with cloudy natural cherry red color and a long lasting off white head. There is some serious funk on the nose of this beer. The aroma is musty and woody with just a touch of cherry. I’m having a hard time telling if the aroma is intentional, or if I am getting something that is off. The taste is a little tart and dirty upfront; the taste evolves with some sweeter cherry, dry oak, and the mildest amounts of caramel and cocoa in the background.
Not the best I’ve had that has Prairie’s name on it, but it’s an interesting beer that’s worth a try.
