151: Kinda Making Me Gag
If this is your first time listening to the show, this is a mini-episode, where we drink one beer and talk about a single subject. The previous episode and the next episode are full episodes, where we also talk about homebrewing and running in addition to reviewing a regular release and an amazing, usually rare beer.
Episode Focus: American Wild Ale
Today’s beer is Allagash Avance: A strawberry American Wild Ale aged in bourbon barrels. Thanks, Josiah and Hop City!
American Wild Ale is a catch-all category for American beers that use some amount of wild yeast strain. “Wild” does not necessarily mean that the beers are spontaneously fermented; but they are influenced by microbes outside of just brewer’s yeast.
Other American Wild Ales that have been reviewed on Brew / Drink / Run include:
Boulevard Love Child No. 4
Southbound Roxanne
Wicked Weed Permeo
Westbrook Leopold
Avery Raspberry Sour
