Toppling Goliath PseudoSue
Toppling Goliath PseudoSue is an American Pale Ale. No ABV listed on the can, packaged on 11/30/16, opened on 01/03/17. If you enjoy craft beer you have probably heard the buzz about Toppling Goliath over the past couple of years. Thanks to finding this in Florida (apparently brewed under contract in Lakeland, FL) this is going to be my first from them.
The beer pours with a clear golden color with some pretty yellow highlights when held to the light. This Pale Ale is pretty much all juicy IPA on the nose with huge notes of pineapple, mango and orange peel that blends with some solid cracker malt and slightly sweeter malt. The taste also drifts into the IPA zone with a rush of sweet tropical fruits and strong pine. The malt profile isn’t quite as strong as you normally get with an IPA though, but it does have a fantastic dry crackery taste. The finish is hoppy and slightly bitter with a little bit of grassiness as well. The mouth-feel is spot on for the style, a crisp and slightly dry Pale Ale with the perfect buzz of carbonation.
I can see why this is so highly regarded. If you are a fan of APA’s like Three Floyds Zombie Dust or Half Acre Daisy Cutter you should be seeking this one out.
