Hi-Wire Brewing Lion Tamer
Hi-Wire Brewing Lion Tamer is a Rye IPA that clocks in at 7% ABV, no bottle date.
Well, this isn’t the best looking beer I’ve ever poured. The beer is a cloudy, dirty red/orange color with a slight off white head that came from a normal pour. The aroma is certainly an improvement. A huge helping of spicy rye and hops with some sweeter carmel malts that hit the nose with each sniff. The taste brings some excellent spicy rye and big bready malt. Mildly bitter with some subtle notes of citrus and pine hops that come out in the flavor. The finish is a touch watery and has a little bit of an odd sourness that seems out of place. I’m not getting a whole lot of IPA character out of Lion Tamer, a “Rye IPA” probably sells better than a straight Rye Beer these days, but I feel like this drinks more like that than an IPA.
A mixed bag here, nothing life changing but if you like Rye Beers I’d consider giving this a try.
