Scofflaw Brewing Co. Basement
Scofflaw Brewing Co. Basement is an American IPA that features Citra hops, 7.5% ABV, no packaging date.
This pours with a slightly hazy lemon yellow color with some golden orange highlights. A big white pillow of foamy head sits on top of the beer. Nice orange and mild pineapple notes on the nose that mix with a hint of table sugar and earth. The taste follows along with the aroma rather well with flavors of pineapple juice, orange juice, apricots and a little earth/peppery spice. The malt bill is quite nice with a dry cracker flavor keeping up with all the upfront hop notes. The can claims this comes in at 100 IBU’s, but my palate is not getting anything close to that. Basement has an acceptable mild to moderate bitterness that works well with the flavor profile. My only complaint would be with the carbonation. This feels a bit under what I like which is giving a slightly syrupy mouth-feel.
The buzz about the IPA’s coming out of Scofflaw is growing all over Georgia, looking forward to trying more in the future.
