Southern Tier Nu Skool IPA
Southern Tier Nu Skool IPA is an American IPA, 6.0% ABV, canned on 11/28/16, opened on 1/30/17. The can also indicates this has “New American Hops with a Tropical Twist”. Sounds fun!
The beer pours with a wonderfully bright golden yellow color with a fluffy off white head. Tropical fruit is definitely a major player in the aroma of this IPA. Notes of mango, papaya, honey, mild pine and generic citrus fruit all hit the nose with each sniff. The initial taste starts rather sweet and fruity with a nice amount of light and sweet tangerine. A shift occurs and the flavor moves into the bitter pine and grapefruit pith zone. A dry cracker malt comes out mid-taste as well. It all finishes up dry and moderately bitter with a surprising amount of yeastiness as well.
Nu Skool is a pretty good beer overall, I’d pick up a six pack of this from time to time.
