Burial Beer Company The Keeper’s Veil
Burial Beer Company The Keeper’s Veil is a Saison/Farmhouse Ale, 5.5% ABV. From the can: … born of raised Carolina barley, wheat and honey and brewed with chamomile, hibiscus, rose, passion flower, heather, elderflower, lavender .. That is a lot of flower in one brew!
The beer is a perfectly hazy dark peach color that has some pretty golden orange highlights when held to the light. The off white head settles to a half inch layer on the top of the tulip glass. All of the flowers blend together to create a soft floral scent that might go just as well in a candle or bar of soap. I am not in tune enough with any of the adjuncts to pick out one specifically, but it mixes with a little sweet biscuit malt rather nicely. The taste is flavorful, but so amazingly delicate as well. The flowers are ever present in the taste but are never too much. Lightly sweet melon dances with the spices from the combination of flowers, while a simple yeast strain adds some dryness without imparting any funk or barnyard character. A little honeysuckle sweetness and some mild cherry tartness make up a pleasant finish.
I thought the laundry list of ingredients would be too much, but I gotta say I really like this beer a lot. It is flavorful and crazy easy to drink.
