Dare 2b Provides Spring Running Motivation
Winter is over. Spring has returned. It’s time to get back into running shape.
Motivation is a difficult concept to quantify. Sometimes you need an extra push to restart a training regimen, especially after time away. It may not be enough that the birds are singing and the temperatures are warming. The added pounds put on during the cold season certainly factor in. Leaving the house sooner, even with an earlier sunrise, can be tough.
Sometimes all you need for motivation is a new set of clothes.
Enter Dare 2b’s excellent running collection. The UK-based company doesn’t have a huge presence in the US, but the internet makes the world a small place and it’s simple to pick up the gear online, either from the official site or third parties like Amazon. It’s also extremely affordable, a nice plus.
The perfect spring ensemble for a morning run consists of three main pieces: Shorts, shirt and a long sleeve pullover.
The shirt: Unified Multisport T-Shirt
Typically, I’m not a fan of shirts with a lot of seams. However, the Unified tee has the typically itchy, irritable seam side on the outside of the shirt, with a smooth finished edge on the inside against your skin. Breathable mesh panels underneath the arms keep you cool. The interior care tags have cut lines for those that find labels bothersome while exercising (although these long, silky tags don’t both me) and the neck tag is a slick plastic, also easily removable. The shirt is made from 100% polyester and I found it wicks easily and is also exceptionally light. More info at Dare 2b | Buy at Amazon
The shorts: Undulate Short
The key to these shorts is the weight. They are extremely light while still having a substantial build quality. Similar to the Unified t-shirt, these shorts have mesh panels on the side in a contrasting color. There is no tag on the inside back of the shorts (the labeling information is screen printed) and the care tags sewn into the side are removable. A zippered pocket for keys or gels in the center back is a thoughtful and useful addition. In a very short amount of time, these have become my go-to shorts for longer runs due to the weight, comfort and functionality. More info at Dare 2b | Buy at Amazon
The pullover: Trivial Half Zip
Depending on how early you head out, an additional layer may be warranted to ward off the morning chill. The Trivial jersey is a perfect companion to the Unified tee, with similar tags and seams. It also has extra long sleeves with thumb holes, something that has become a must-have in this style of jacket for me. The zipper is thoroughly backed and has a covered lip at the top to prevent irritation on your skin. It’s stretchy and lightweight without sacrificing style. It’s available in a heather blue with shock orange trim that matches up perfectly with a gray and orange pair of Undulate shorts. More info at Dare 2b | Buy at Amazon
