Allagash Curieux is a Bourbon Barrel-Aged Tripel. You would not expect a Tripel to be bourbon barrel aged, but it works so well with this beer. The bourbon adds a lot of vanilla, a touch of caramel, along with a good bit of bourbon flavor. I like that better than the usual alcohol flavor/heat you get from a Tripel. It is still a little sweet and fruity. The barrel aging does not overpower the beer, it improves it. Purists my not like this, but I think it is amazing.
