Avery Samael’s Oak Aged Ale
Avery Samael’s Oak Aged Ale is an English Barleywine. This bottle is Vintage 2009 Batch # 5, aged 3 years and clocking in at a monster 16.45% abv. From their website “A super-caramelly, oak-aged strong English-style ale”. Not sure I could put it better. Carmel mixes with some mild wood and vanilla. A few years has dulled the alcohol taste a bit (I can only imagine this thing fresh), but you can feel the warmth in your gut. I’m thinking you could age this for about forever as long as you are willing to accept some oxidation when you finally open it.
