Williamsburg AleWerks Bitter Valentine

Williamsburg AleWerks Bitter Valentine is a limited release American Double/Imperial IPA. The bottle I acquired was a little old for a DIPA, but I pulled the trigger on the trade since it might not be made again (thanks Kevin!). The malts are of a light sweet caramel nature, maybe a bit more pronounced due to the age. The hops flavors are right up my alley: citrus fruit, resinous pine (without too much onion or garlic notes) and a nice lingering bitterness. The alcohol is just a bit to prevalent, but otherwise this is a stellar DIPA. In the end I don’t think the few months this had on was very damaging. I hope this beer gets another go around or even becomes a seasonal beer, I would love the chance to try this again.
