Shmaltz He’Brew Jewbelation Fifteen
Shmaltz He’Brew Jewbelation Fifteen is anĀ American Strong Ale brewed to celebrate their 15th Anniversary. Brewed with 15 malts, 15 hops & clocking in at 15% ABV. If I learned anything form this beer it’s that 15 malts > 15 hops. Syrupy sweet malts dominate at first with flavors of figs, soy sauce, molasses, cola, alcohol burn, and a bit of licorice and brown sugar. The hops show up at the finish making a meager showing.
So this beer is supposed to be 15% ABV, however, my bottle has a perfectly placed sticker on it with the ABV listed at 10.9% ABV. I must admit I was surprised to see it on the shelf here in Georgia since our laws do not allow beer above 14% ABV to be sold. I did not notice the sticker until I opened it and now I have a couple of questions… Did they brew 2 (or more) versions of this for different markets? How much will such a big drop in ABV change the flavor of this beer? Anyone have some answers?
