Goose Island Madame Rose
Goose Island Madame Rose is a Flanders Oud Bruin. This is the 2012 vintage bottled on 7/31, aged about six months. The ale is aged in French oak Cabernet Sauvignon barrels with Michigan cherries and heavily inoculated with Brettanomyces. Sour from the start with a good bit of funk. This is just how I like my sours, intense yet still drinkable. The sweet/tart cherries seem to be in just the right proportion, and the Cabernet Sauvignon barrel treatment becomes evident on the finish. I wouldn’t mind getting a dozens of these roses for Valentine’s Day!
