Cigar City Brewing Florida Cracker
Florida Cracker is an outlier in the world of Cigar City, a beverage brand known for their hearty stouts, intricate barrel-aged experiments and one-off collaborations. The idea of a Belgian Wit – traditionally a very straightforward style – doesn’t seem to mingle with the rest of their oeuvre, much less make the cut as a year-round offering. However, you can never sell the brewers that created Hunahpu’s orĀ Marshal Zhukov’s short.
Cigar City took that simple profile you expect from a white ale (thin mouthfeel, big yeast, cloudy and a refreshing citrus note) and added a dryness and pepper that catch you off guard. It’s those little surprises that makes Florida Cracker so special. In the south, we love a good quencher and while this beer may be too complex to wash down a day of yard work, it’s more than a proper companion to a hearty meal as well as a boating trip.
This is one of the rare occasions that I don’t mind an aluminum can touching my beer. I need Florida Cracker to be as portable as it is good tasting. A great, light, highly drinkable but still complex craft beer on call whenever I need it? That’s the beauty of this beer.
