Unibroue Grande Réserve 17
Unibroue Grande Réserve 17 is a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. This is the 2011 vintage, bottled on 12/12/2011. Bottle no. 2011 of 70,925. Aged 1 year and 4 months after bottling. Originally brewed in 2009 to celebrate their 17th Anniversary, it is now brewed an bottled once a year. This Belgian Strong Ale is aged in French Oak and comes in at 10% ABV. Pours with a very murky brownish color, really not that pleasant, but the smell improves with a nice amount of sweet dark fruit and spices. The oak is obvious from the start, getting lots of that dry/woody/slightly vanilla flavor. Next comes some medium sweet raisin and prune flavors mixing with some nice spices. This is a very enjoyable sipper.
