Founders Doom

Founders Doom is an American Double/Imperial IPA. This is the latest installment in The Backstage Series, an Imperial IPA aged in bourbon barrels. Vanilla and oak almost dominate the taste at this point. There is also a surprisingly small amount of straight bourbon flavor. There is a bit of caramel malt way in the background, and I am also enjoying a wonderful amount of tropical fruit (mixing with very dry oak) in the aftertaste, which is making me drink this much slower than I normally do. I will be intrigued to see how my other bottle ages…
