Costa Rica’s Craft Brewing Co. NZ Pale Ale
It’s Costa Rica Week at BDR! All this week we’re reviewing beers from Costa Rica. Salud!
This isn’t the type of beer you expect to find in Costa Rica – but it’s a perfect blend of sweetness, hops and citrus that keeps the heat and humidity at bay.
Assuming the coveted fifth tap position at the Black Sheep Pub in Nosara, Costa Rica’s Craft Brewing Co’s NZ Pale Ale has a heaping helping of New Zealand-bred citrusy, oily hops. To counter that citrus and back-end bitter bite, sweet, bready malts extend the flavor over a relatively thin, drinkable mouthfeel. It’s a pale ale with a refreshing twist, and just the type of beer to lead Imperial-drinking Ticos and gringos to the church of craft beer.
This may be a bit harder to find than CRCBC’s other beers; but it is worth the effort.
