Great Divide Espresso Oak Aged Yeti
What a great day this is! Not only do we get to celebrate our Independence (Happy 4th!), but it is once again Throwback Thursday!
Great Divide Espresso Oak Aged Yeti is an American Double/Imperial Stout clocking in at 9.5% ABV. I’m pretty sure this was the first Yeti I ever tried. That would have been probably about three years ago? Well, however long it’s been it still holds up as a rather incredible beer. The bottle I am having has been aged about 5 months, so pretty fresh for a stout. Things start with some very dry cocoa that mixes with roasted malts. The espresso is still potent with some great coffee flavor, but not too much, it does blend well. The oak aging comes into play with some vanilla and lingers on in a very woody/dry finish. I love going back and reading the old notes I had made. This is how I summed up the beer a few years ago: Very well done, but by far the “driest” beer I’ve ever had.
