Southern Tier Plum Noir

Southern Tier Plum Noir is an American Porter. This is one of the new Blackwater Series beers that is replacing the likes of Oat, Mokah and Java. It is available in the Spring/Summer slot. This porter is brewed with Italian plums. I am enjoying this, a good body for a porter with just a hint of coffee in with the dark malts. The plums seem to get a bit lost though, there are in there but it really is only the power of suggestion that makes you know it’s plums you tasting. Might as well be a bit of of mild cherry or something. I’m a big fan of Southern Tier’s dark beers and this one is no different, but there just isn’t enough going on here to make me forget about the loss of three of my favorite Southern Tier beers.
