Goose Island 25th Anniversary Ale

Goose Island 25th Anniversary Ale is an Extra Special Bitter. Not a style I gravitate too, but I was more than happy to grab a single when I saw it on vacation. This is quite frankly very similar to their Honker’s Ale, although less sweet. Some caramel and bready malts are complimented by some spiciness and mild citrus hop bite. The beer is earthy and dry on the finish. It’s good, but maybe a bit pedestrian for an Anniversary Ale? Given their stable of stellar beers I think I was expecting something grander from a Goose Island.
