Short’s Soft Parade

Short’s Soft Parade is a Fruit Beer. This is brewed fermented with blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. From the bright reddish/pink appearance and sweet fruity smell (think strawberry yogurt) I was expecting a sweet mess. I was surprised to taste a mildly sweet, slightly tart fruit beer. The strawberries and raspberries are most obvious, and there is a mild cherry like flavor that I get overall. A hint of the toasted rye comes in on the finish which helps to retain some beer integrity. Not something I would go for again, but I am glad to have tried it. Definitely a high quality fruit beer that I would have to assume is quite popular in it’s local market.
