Olde Hickory Irish Walker
Olde Hickory Irish Walker is an English Barleywine. This is dipped in blue wax and stamped 2102, but I think it is actually produced year round. That makes accurate dating a bit confusing, but I got this last summer in Asheville so it has to be at least 1 year old. Regardless this is drinking very nice at whatever age it is. The obvious flavors are of sweet dark fruits, caramel with a bit of spicy hops. More subtle notes of dry wood, toffee and leather float in and out and pop out every now and then. Doesn’t break into my top 5 for barleywines, but this is a very good beer that is totally worth picking up. I got a second bottle as a trade extra and I am looking forward to aging that a little longer.
