Goose Island The Illinois

Goose Island The Illinois is an American Double/Imperial IPA. As soon as my nose got near the beer I knew what I was smelling, this beer smells a lot like Bell’s Hopslam. I don’t expect it to taste the same, but the aroma has the same tropical fruit and sweetness of Hopslam. The taste starts malty and candy sweet, some of the tropical fruits comes in along with a blast of bitter pine on the back end. The aftertaste is a bit cloying, but this is a tasty beer with good balance overall.
