Sweetwater 17th Anniversary Ale: Saison Farmhouse Ale
Sweetwater 17th Anniversary Saison Farmhouse Ale pours with a beautiful opaque golden color. The smell is pretty standard: saison spice and yeast with a hint of caramel as well. Very fruity and a tad sweet to start, getting slightly tart green apple along with some sweeter citrus. That hint of caramel on the nose creeps into the taste as well. This tastes like it was spiced with most of the spice rack though. Yeah, maybe a bit spice heavy, but all that spice is at least mixing with a strong yeast strain. My biggest complaint with this is the ABV, this beer is way too boozy for a saison. Pretty good overall, in spite of the alcohol heat I enjoyed it and I’d say it’s worth a try. At 9% I guess you could age this for a while, maybe it would cool off a bit.
