Epic Brewing Big Bad Baptist
Epic Brewing Big Bad Baptist is an American Double/Imperial Stout and is a member of the Exponential Series. This review is for Release #13, brewed in May of 2013 and bottled 3 months later. I drank this in May of 2014, so this has an additional 9 months on it.
The bottle informs us that this is a stout with cocoa nibs and coffee added, and aged in whiskey barrels. I have to tell you that really just about sums it up too, the bottle doesn’t lie. The aroma has a lot a lot of roasted malts and whiskey, and a good bit of coffee still hanging in there as well. The taste is of roasted malts, chocolate, whiskey, coffee (again I’m surprised that it has hung on at 9 months) and a hint of smokiness as well. Maybe a bit thin in the mouth-feel, but this is one incredibly tasty stout. I’ll be on the lookout for bottles of this again.
