Wedge Brewing Company 3rd Rail Barleywine
I don’t usually like to order young barleywines on draft, but sometimes you have to try things when you can. Wedge Brewing Company 3rd Rail Barleywine really proved my point as to why, this one could really use some age!
Don’t get me wrong the flavor of the beer was very good. Sweet caramel malt is followed by a boat load of pungent hops. Rich, bitter and boozy. I just feel like a year or so would really bring all of that together some, improving the overall taste and experience.
At the end of the day I don’t feel like I wasted my $5, this was certainly enjoyable. Maybe someone at Wedge could stick some in some bourbon barrels for a few months!
