Wicked Weed Serenity
Wicked Weed Serenity is a Saison/Farmhouse Ale brewed with 100% Brettanomyces, then aged in wine barrels for 3 – 5 months.
From the appearance I will assume with confidence that this was aged in white wine barrels of some sort. The aroma on this is downright weird. The first thing that comes to mind is meat, like lunch meat. Bologna maybe? I think I was the only one in the tasting group getting that, but I’m sticking to it! The taste thankfully isn’t meaty at all! The taste is sour and funky, but not particularly intense at all. I’m also getting a pleasant vanilla note from the wine barrels.
The simplicity of this one really impressed me. It’s refreshing and easy to drink, no need to be muddled with craziness. Probably my favorite beer from one epic tasting, thanks for sharing Ben!
