Burnt Hickory 9353 – Berliner Weissbier
Burnt Hickory changed the style of 9353 to a Berliner Weissbier for 2014, last year it was a Belgian style IPA. I am not normally a fan of peaches in beers, but his one really works for me. So much so that I went back for a second pour at our Your Pie/Craft Beer Week tap takeover!
The fruit aroma is intense and spot on, fresh tart, but sweet peaches. The taste is more of the same, tart and fruity. This is an easy to drink and refreshing 5.5% ABV beer coming from a brewery that loves to push the boundaries and ABV of their creations. (According to head brewer Will, this actually was somewhere between 6% and 7% before they “got it down”)
Not sure if they will change the 9353 style from year to year, but I think they should keep this Berliner as a seasonal offering no matter what 9353 becomes. Fantastic!
