Red Brick Thick Silky
Red Brick Thick Silky Double Chocolate Oatmeal Porter has some (gasp!) non-hideous artwork. The clever homage to the blacksploitation films of the seventies looks great, and ACTUALLY made me want to buy the beer! Well, it’s what’s on the inside that really counts…
Perfect color and pour. Extremely dark brown in color with some reddish hues when held to the light. The head is good to start and never fully dissipates leaving some good lacing behind in the glass. The aroma is very muted at first, but eventually becomes evident with some very nice roasted malts and chocolate. What this beer lacks on the nose it makes up for in the taste! Roasty and sweet with a good dose of chocolate and vanilla cream. There is a great generic dark fruity thing going on in the background as well. The oatmeal is giving it some extra body, which is keeping this from feeling a bit too thin in the mouth.
There was no chance I was going to pass on this local Georgia offering, but I’m very glad it exceeded my expectations. Well worth a bottle or two!
