Allagash Evora
Allagash Evora is a Belgian Strong Pale Ale aged for 16 months in Portuguese Brandy barrels with Brettanomyces. Got to try this thanks to the hard work of Paul, Michael and the rest of the Your Pie crew, cheers!
The beer pours with a lovely light golden color, while the smell has that very classic Allagash Brett type thing going on. I’m getting some cherry-esque flavors and tartness, but I don’t think cherries came anywhere near this. The Brett brings a mild, but pleasant, funkiness to the beer about halfway through the taste. There is a dry, white wine like finish which is working very well with the Brett. Missing for me for the most part is the brandy barrels. Getting a hint of generic sweetness on the finish that could be attributed to the Brandy barrels.
This was an excellent draft only offering to end our tap takeover season with. I even skipped on having an old Allagash favorite and finished up my night with a second glass of this!
