Firestone Walker Double Jack
Firestone Walker Double Jack is an American Double/Imperial IPA. I remembered being oddly disappointed in this the first time I had it. That seemed strange considering how good Firestone Walker beer is overall, so I decided to revisit this.
This is a downright beautiful beer, clear and golden with some orange highlights. The aroma is dank with a lot of pine, on the verge of crossing into onion territory, but a good amount of sweet caramel covers that up for me. On the taste is sweet caramel and orange which are slowly overtaken by some strong pine hops with hints of grapefruit. A somewhat dry and bitter finish is a nice end to this DIPA.
Not sure what I was thinking the first time around, but freshness could have been an issue. Glad I tried this again, plain and simple this is a classic West Coast DIPA.
